Department of Youth Services

At DYS, we strive to promote positive change in the youth committed to our care and custody by engaging in partnerships with communities, families, and government and provider agencies. By working in close collaboration with these entities, we can continue to provide rehabilitative services to youth and help make communities better and safer places to live. Success Mentors

Family Services of the Merrimack Valley is pleased to be the lead organization for the "Massachusetts Success Mentors Collaborative". The collaborative is a partnership between Family Services, Mass Mentoring Partnership, Springfield School Volunteers and Boys and Girls Club of Greater Holyoke. These organizations have come together to implement the evidence-based "Success Mentors model" which identifies students at risk of becoming chronically absent and connects them with a school-based mentor. Ultimately, our goal is to increase attendance and school engagement. The Success Mentors program in Lawrence, Massachusetts will serve 100 students during the 2018-2019 school year at the Lawrence High School and the Arlington Middle School.
